Building for the Future - Dell Children's Third Bed Tower Project
When Dell Children's Medical Center opened in the summer of 2007, a whole new world of possibilities opened as well. Our hospital is one of the most innovative, family-centered and eco-friendly pediatric hospitals in the world.
Announcing Dell Children's Phase II
Since opening, Dell Children's has increased patient visits by over 63%. Last year alone, the hospital had over 137,000 patient visits. Adding an additional patient bed tower has been part of the long-term plan for Dell Children's. The time is now and the children of Central Texas need us to be ready. This expansion will help Dell Children's keep pace with the growth in our region, respond to rising patient volumes, and provide additional space for patient care. Construction begins this fall and doors will open for patients in summer 2013.
Impact of the Third Bed Tower Includes: - Increased bed capacity to 248 beds, adding 72 new beds - Increased critical care capacity for all medical programs Added and expanded medical programs, such as: - Inpatient Rehabilitation - Cardiology - Orthopedics and Sports Medicine - Neurosciences, including an expanded Epilepsy Monitoring Unit - Surgical Intensive Care Unit
